SILL, winner of the 2015 Energ’IAA award for energy consumption management

On Tuesday 10th March 2015, the SILL group was presented with the 2015 Energ’IAA award at the CFIA (the trade fair for suppliers to the food processing industry) in Rennes. The award recognized SILL for the implementation of our energy consumption policy at our Plouvien site.

Having already been granted the ISO 50001 certification in October 2014 at our Plouvien site (in Finistère, West Brittany), the addition of this Energ’IAA award further underlines our longstanding respect for the environment. Indeed, we have been able to expand the range of our energy sources through the installation of a biomass boiler and to maximize our energy efficiency, notably by using speed regulators for high power machines, fuel-saving devices mounted on both our conventional gas and biomass boilers, replacing neon tube lighting by LED, setting up movement sensors…

Elsewhere our air compressors will be replaced in 2015 by a new generation of compressors with improved output.

Furthermore SILL keeps track of our energy consumption and analyses any variations. In fact before any decision is made regarding new investments or acquisitions, our criteria for efficient energy performance are fully taken into account. Today the Energ’IAA award has highlighted the success of our energy management system, whose efficiency is largely due to our highly qualified and dedicated team.

Understanding the Energ’IAA:

Energ’IAA is an award set up by Process Alimentaire magazine in conjunction with EDF’s ENBRIN programme (ENergie Bretagne Innovation) and is aimed at spotlighting food processing factories that have saved energy in significant ways, particularly electricity. The award has the support of ABEA, the Breton association for food processing companies, as well as the Brittany regional council. It is part of a region-wide agreement to implement ways of reducing electricity consumption.
